Yes, we live in a time when the only difference between services and products is that the client can perceive the quality of service. But exactly this difference creates his positive attitude and disposition towards the company and its products or services. This is a competitive advantage for client-oriented companies. The most accurate and comprehensive definition of customer service: “Service is what our clients think about it.”

Surprisingly, many companies do not see the connection between sales and quality of service. They consider their unspoken contract fulfilled when a client receives a service or product. They consider the service as an unpaid, unforeseen and, as a result, a completely unnecessary bonus. But the underlying nature of service has remained unchanged. People want courtesy, product knowledge, help and enthusiasm from company employees. Quality service is the concentration of all resources and all employees of a company on client satisfaction. It is all employees, and not just those who directly communicate with the client. The service includes everything: sales, delivery, order processing, HR, correspondence, invoicing, sales on credit, finance and accounting, advertising and public relations, data processing, etc.

No matter how far technology goes, clients will always appreciate the friendly, caring service provided by real people. They will smile when you call them by name, provide them with information, or provide assistance that they did not expect. And they will tell their friends about friendly, attentive service and employees who know what they are doing and who like to do it.

We are committed to becoming a customer-oriented company that understands that its only real asset is satisfied clients, each expects an individual approach.

Our client is a partner! A partner who is ready to consult with you and trust you, with whom we are in the same reality, have common interests. Our clients are also the result of our work! We are developing thanks to the non-standard tasks that we solve for our clients and together with our clients. Together we find the most profitable solution for optimizing processes and increasing profits. All this inevitably has a positive effect on long-term cooperation.

Inspired after a productive working week with our client in the Kharkiv office of Itera Research.

Do you remember science fiction films in which people were helped by caring humanoid robots, something like R2-D2 from Star Wars?  Once, in distant childhood, it seemed to us that the future would come when in the morning the robot “John” or “David” brings you coffee to the bed.

The future has come, but instead of a “John” robot, a smart, albeit anonymous, coffee machine can make coffee – the main thing is to set the time for your awakening. A smart heater will turn on at your arrival at home, a smart washing and drying machine will prepare things for tomorrow’s business trip, a smart outlet will turn off a forgotten iron, etc.

So, IoT is an electronic device integrated into a single network, all kinds of sensors, household appliances, even industrial appliances and more. To perform its functions and adjust the execution following the wishes of the “owner” all this equipment and technics – “hard” need “brains” – software.

We live in a world where the Internet of things is an everyday occurrence. And the number of these same “things” will only increase.

The scope of IoT is expanding every day into an increasing number of industries.

  • Energy (economical consumption organization)
  • Medicine (quick response systems, etc.)
  • Transport and logistics (tracking of optimal routes, traffic congestion regulation, etc.)
  • Agriculture (greenhouse or farm management optimization)
  • Smart home, smart building (apartment building, many stocks building)

And many many others.

Currently, IoT is scaled up and globalized. Its “short pants” is growing, rising from the concept of a “smart home” to the level of a sensory planet. Controlled street lighting, adjustable field irrigation, unmanned transport network, etc. All these are not only new opportunities but also new challenges. In particular, for the security of this huge evolving system.

Do you agree, to establish the clear work of such a big thing is like a little control of the world? We are already training it hard!

Blockchain is a theme that excites the imagination of a modern person living in the world of post-truth. In the average person’s mind, the blockchain is still tightly connected with financial operations. But for an “advanced user”, this is a ticket to a new world, where it will be much more difficult to manipulate data than before. Increasingly, the concept of “blockchain” pops up in the areas infinitely far from finance. Let’s figure out why.

What is blockchain?

We came across dozens of blockchain technology descriptions: as the example of a registration book, an original photo and many copies of it, a library, a left-luggage office or even a tulips store. That’s because describing the technology using colorful examples is easier than literally explaining the essence (yes, the blockchain is still “mysterious”, but knowledgeable people said of it exclusively as explosive technology). One way or another, the blockchain is a block data storage system (arranged consequentially), each element of which contains information and a record of the previous fragment. The basis of information security is the decentralization, a network of servers and computers with information is spread around the world. Users of this technology gain access to their units.
If the information in one of the blocks is updated, the entire system “overwrites” it in each element of the network. The main advantage of the blockchain is that it is impossible to erase or delete the recorded information (the chain stores all the changes and additions).

Where is blockchain used?

For the first time, as we have already mentioned, Blockchain was implemented in the financial system, and this is not surprising: people are responsible for their money. Probably even more responsible than their health, freedom, beliefs. But sooner or later it comes to them.
If we can come up with and develop a transparent system of funds income and expenditure, why not organize a similar system to control the treatment course? Or tracking the “travel” of a conditional product from the assembly line to getting on the store shelf? Or the journey of his vote in favor of a particular candidate in the election? In other words, blockchain can be used in any field where the authenticity of information is of significant value.

This, for example, could be:

  • Medicine (no one doctor can fake a medical history by choosing the wrong treatment protocol).
  • Copyright (here everything is clear: who first claimed – win).
  • Internet of things (war of cars is prevented, as well as the penetration of outsiders into your territory).
  • Gambling (not only Ocean’s Eleven but 120 friends will no longer be able to steal a penny from the casino).
  • Electronic voting (no one else will be at a loss for your vote).
  • Public administration in the broad sense – for example, budget expenditures coordination, etc.

You can go on and on it. But you ALREADY became convinced that the blockchain is an extremely useful and quite applicable thing, right?

Never again

What will we never see again in the world of rapidly spreading blockchain? Strict censorship and information hidden behind seven seals.
Centralized systems made it possible to establish control over information flowing into a single center.
Decentralization and distribution completely change these centuries-old rules. The axiom “who owns the information, owns the world” is destroyed by one click of his fingers.
Technology has already been announced as the most important discovery since the invention of the Internet, which threatens to revolutionize the existing world order. Wait and see.

Every Web Summit is completely different. We do not know yet what we will perceive this year. But we can definitely say that it is very numerous and diverse. In the meantime, active preparations for #WebSummit2019 are underway, and we want to remind you what the #WebSummit2018 was like. Last year this technological conference brought together over 70,000 participants. It’s not in vain, according to Forbes magazine, this conference is the best high-tech event in the world. The specialists from around the world meet at the summit to keep abreast of upcoming trends, to build a network, to present their projects or find investors.

By tradition, everything went on in Portuguese capital, Lisbon. The entire event consisted of 23 major thematic conferences, which were located in several buildings. All performances took place in parallel with each other. Every space was divided into many zones with a stage, each is dedicated to its field: these are not only technologies and IT developments, but also VR / AR, marketing, game industry, mobile applications, AI, Big Data, Social Media, IT Security, cryptocurrency, startups, sports and much more. The WS site posted a schedule where you could draw up your own plan and attend those presentations that are most interesting to you.

For whom?

This is a large-scale event for large company managers, business owners, startups and representatives of various industries. A great opportunity to learn a lot from the world of high technology. A record number of start-ups were presented at the Web Summit – 1800. More than 1200 speakers from different parts of the world appear on the summit stages, including the creator of the World Wide Web Tim Berners-Lee, Microsoft President Brad Smith, Oculus Rift inventor Palmer Lucky, stage director Darren Aronofsky, eBay CEO Devin Wenig, Nestlé CEO Mark Schneider and even former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

What did they say?

The keynote of all opening speeches was the issue of a secure future on the Internet. The world has reached the point where 50% of the Earth’s population is connected and has Internet access. And now it can be considered one of the basic rights for the majority. It is in our power to make this space friendly and helpful. And how to put digital solutions at the service of society, while avoiding the traps lurking on the World Wide Web?

The state paid a lot of attention to this event. The speakers were the President of Portugal, the Prime Minister of Portugal, the UN Secretary-General (Portuguese by nationality). We were pleased with the number and openness of discussions that took place with real performers, top managers of the largest companies and corporations in the world. Speakers shared trends, problems, were told where the vector of their further development is directed. Everything is extremely compressed but in essence. It is worth a visit to get inspired, but you need to have a clear understanding of what you are interested in.

Startup and Corporate Business.

Real-time startup showcases grow up and become more solid every year. Previously, young projects rarely demonstrated prototypes of their developments. This year there were more beta and growth projects demonstrating work products and the real customer base. As for corporate business, one can clearly see how their approaches for using innovations continue to change. For example, even PVA holding presented its well-known brands: Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein. Brands are trying to show openness to new technologies and are looking for competitive advantages not only in increasing sales. Their interest is not an investment for dividends, but the application of technology in their business. This could be achieved both by acquisitions of startups and simply by obtaining exclusive rights to these technologies.

Why is it important to attend?

In addition to conferences, exhibitions, and forums on the Web Summit 2018, there was something else. This was a party network where startups meet with technology companies and investors; the place where the presence of advanced technologies, including, for advertising and marketing, took place. This was a more interactive event format.

What can you get?

The most important reason why we should attend such an event is a new experience and inspection. For our clients, first of all, we are experts and consultants, and accordingly, it is critically important to understand all the latest trends and convert them into plans, strategies, actions. This means being professional and fulfilling our responsibilities in a quality manner.

We will definitely take part in the #WebSummit2019, since such conferences are an almost perfect way to keep abreast of technological trends, monitor how industries solve their problems, and simply expand the circle of business communication.

In today’s world, a webinar is not only a remote lecture on video communication but a useful tool for generating leads and promoting on the Internet. By giving people the opportunity to find out the information they are interested in, you will receive contact information of potential customers already interested in your services in return. On gaining wide application in the advertising field, webinars received a powerful push to automate many functions. After all, to use all the capabilities of this tool you need to perform many operations manually. Therefore, we have prepared materials on how to make an assistant tool in conducting webinars, which meets all modern and personal needs.

Understanding Multiple Webinar Scenarios

Remote presenters. Of course, it makes no sense to consider the functions of tools without regard to specific use cases. Modern programs for webinars successfully merge on and off campus using remote interaction features. For example, as a webinar has two parties – learners and presenters – participants can access an event from all over the globe using PC or phone. That’s why if there are several presenters who are not in one place, they can either access all the features by joining the event or even run several programs on the presenter’s PC remotely.

Discussion management. An important role in the webinars is played by discussions. You can, at your own discretion, determine who can participate in the discussions during the webinar. However, it should be noted that not always the possibility of managing textual communication is the determining factor for the choice of the instrument. Sometimes basic settings are enough especially if there is only a need to deliver the same information right away to a large number of listeners.

Training integration. In training webinars within companies, there is usually a need to organize group work. Therefore, some of the tools allow learners to interact with each other in a mixed webinar which is combined with face-to-face activities. There are webinar tools integrated with the distance learning environment called Moodle. The creators of Moodle training courses have the opportunity to build in the learning process such training formats as online training, and master classes, into their webinars.

Promotion enhancement. Also, more and more often webinars are used not in training but promotional purposes. Some of them make it possible to create a landing page for an online event with a webinar description and registration form. After registration, a mass mailing of invitations to the webinar can be carried out directly from the platform.

Webinar Application Design

Research & training. First of all, to start the development you need to determine the target audience of the future application. Answer the following questions first:

  • In what kind of webinars will it be used? (advertising, training)
  • How many experts can be present simultaneously (for instance, round tables allow to collect several experts at one event to discuss the topic)
  • The number of participants (if you are going to develop a tool for your own organization) and the limit of participants by subscription (for application monetization)

To define a format of webinars which will be organized by means of application you can also use market research results.

Development. In the development of the application associated with the video signal, you will have to face the prevention of connection loss, the quality of signal transmission, video capture from the host computer screen, etc. Also, you may need to develop algorithms for remote connection and control of a computer.

Basic features to be implemented:

  • Waiting room
  • Timeline
  • Live Chat
  • Transmitting the screen & voice
  • Email automation
  • Participating confirmation
  • Capturing video of the webinar

Advanced features:

  • Whiteboard
  • Participants analytics
  • Mobile support
  • Ability to draw on the screen
  • Ability to mute some attendees
  • Monetization tools
  • Multiple host support, etc.

Quality assurance. Another important point is ensuring the quality of the application. Webinars require the simultaneous connection of a large number of people (from 2 to several thousand people), which implies high loads on the server side. Therefore, it is important to test the application operation in both ideal and unfavorable conditions – unstable connection, numerous simultaneous requests, etc.

Support. Technologies do not stand still, so it’s important to implement improvements to the application as often as possible. The support team will cope with this task.

Available Solutions: GoToMeeting, GoToWebinar

GoToMeeting is a well-known webinar and video-conference tool with a long history. This is the basic solution allowing to create conferences with up to 15 people first launched in 2004. In addition to the basic features, it gave an ability to record discussion for further playback, sharing access to individual applications, tools for drawing on the screen and for generating reports. It gradually evolved into one of the greatest webinar tools as it uses patented technology that allows access to an arbitrary application running on the presenter computer in real time. GoToWebinar is another project of the same company, Citrix Online, used to create webinars for 1000 people simultaneously.

Summary: How to Make a Successful Application for Webinars

Creating a reliable application for webinars is not much different from creating any other quality application. All you need to remember about the peculiarities of this sphere is that it needs to support working with a large number of participants in real time, which means high software and server loads. However, carefully designed application architecture and quality testing of all the elements of the system will allow you to create a worthwhile product for both mass and personal use.

Sincerely yours,

Itera Research team

In over ten years of existence we’ve picked up a fair share of expert knowledge on many different projects. This makes our team of over 50 developers and systems administrators all highly experienced and dedicated professionals. All of whom possess Brainbench, Retratech, MCP, RHCE and MCSE certification and are backed by an expert, PMI/UPMA certified management team.

Why is this important when it comes to an accurate quotation that genuinely reflects the quality and complexity of work you require? When using inexperienced developers (or those with irrelevant qualifications), they will almost always send back a quote that – when broken down – shows a lack of understanding for the project’s wants and needs in terms of their time and expertise. This is often down to a lack of confidence on the part of the ill-experienced contractor that ultimately means large risks on the part of you – the client. This is true with all kinds of freelancers and contractors that lack the skills and quality to provide the assurances you need to make sure your project comes in on time, on budget and to your exact specifications.

A similar problem can occur with lone freelancers, who may have the relevant skills, but not the time to properly dedicate themselves to a project; once again leading to costs over and above the original estimate.

Conversely, a good developer, working with a strong team can accurately match and compare the skillset of the team to the various aspects of the works. Assigning various packages to the most suitable and able members regardless of experience, common problems that can affect project estimation will always include:

  • Simply extending and building on a previous project, meaning a break in code and unity,
  • Integrating unknown third party services to another API with unreliable updates and patches,
  • Unpredictable system behavior once the changes have been made,
  • Complex custom tasks for niche markets, and the difficulty in finding people with the right experience.

This wide gap in experience and quality is generally the reason behind the discrepancy in estimated costs you may see. Contractor “X” may have offered the cheapest, but have they covered all the needs and outcomes you require, furthermore taking into account the points above. These are the questions you need to ask when faced with widely disparate quotes for the same piece of work.

All of these hurdles can be overcome by choosing a highly qualified, and widely sourced team, who take an individual and flexible approach to every client and every job, to provide your quotation. That’s why, by working closely with you, we at Itera Research will always pick the best and most appropriate methodology; as a result all estimates take into account your bespoke requirements.
