Game removed from AppStore in regards to request from french game Mille Bornes representatives. We are negotiating with them.Mile By Mile is a card game. Its objective is to complete 5000 miles in a race or 1000 miles in a single game. The game complies with traffic rules - "go" for green light, "stop" for red light. The speed limits must all be obeyed. If the gas is out - you need to fill up the tank, flat tire - replace it with a spare one. In case of an accident you need to repair the car before going any further. You will try to reach the finish first, as well as your opponent, and try to hinder your opponent’s way by placing various hazards on it.
There are 3 game types:
Single game
- up to 1000 milesRace
- up to 5000 milesTournament
- 3-level game, 5000 miles each106 special cards are used in the game. The cards are divided into 4 categories: distance, hazard, remedy and safety cards.
Distance cards.
Each of the card shows the distance which the car will cover: 25, 50, 75, 100 and 200 miles. During the game progress the cards are summed up to define the total distance covered.
There are 10 cards of each value - 25, 50 and 75 miles, twelve 100 mile cards and four 200 mile cards in the deck.
Hazard cards.
Accident - a player gets into accident and cannot move along
Out of gas - a player is out of gas, he cannot move along
Flat tire - a player cannot proceed
Speed limit - a player can play only 25 and 50 mile distance cards
Stop - a player stops moving
The deck contains 3 cards of each value - "Accident", "Out of gas" and "Flat tire", as well as four "Speed limit" cards and five "Stop" cards.
Remedy cards.
Repair - is used as a protection against "Accident" card
Gasoline - protection against "Out of gas" card
Spare tire - protection against "Flat tire" card
End of speed limit - protection against "Speed limit" card
Go - protects against "Stop" card and is also used after fixing other hazards.
There are six cards of each value "Repair", "Gasoline", "Spare tire" and "End of speed limit" in a game,
as well as fourteen "Go" cards because they are needed more often.
Safety cards.
Driving ace - protects against "Accident" card till the end of the game
Extra tank - protects against "Out of gas" card till the end of the game
Puncture-proof - protects against "Flat tire" card till the end of the game
Right of way - protects against "Stop" and "Speed limit" cards and is also used after fixing other hazards till the end of the game. When the card is played there is no need to use "Go" card.
There is one of every safety card per game. After using each of these cards a player has the possibility to draw once again.
Play
6 cards are dealt to each player in the beginning of the game. To start the game use "Go" card. If there are no distance cards a player must discard.
The player can move only with the green light, i.e. when no limits are applied. With the red light you have to use a counterattack card to the corresponding limit – amber light will be on. Then, if there is no active Remedy card, the player uses "Go" – a green light will be on, the player can proceed with the game.
The game is finished when one of the players completes 1000 miles. That means that if 50 miles are left to the finish, 100 and 200 mile distance cards will be discarded.
Additional points:
Safety cards – 100 points are scored for each safety card. 300 points are scored additionally if all safety cards were used during the game.
Coupe-Fourré – if a player plays a hazard card and counterattacks it with a safety card during his next turn – 300 points are scored additionally.
Trip completed – 400 points for 1000 miles if a player was the first one to complete the distance.
Delayed action – 300 points if the game is over after exhausting the draw pile.
Safe trip – 300 points for completing the trip without playing any 200 mile cards.
Extension – 200 points for completing the game after reaching 700 miles. A player can either finish the game or call for an extension to 1000 miles.
Shutout – 500 points if the opponent did not use any Distance cards.
